St John the Evangelist, Mill End
This 15m wide window was commissioned as part of a complete refurbishment of the church. The priest was keen for an abstract treatment of the window to fit in with the style of the church, which was built in the 1960s. 'Light overcoming darkness' was given as the theme for the window, central to the Prologue to St John's Gospel, after whom the church was named. For inspiration, I have used images from the Hubble telescope, which perfectly reflects this theme.
